In their own words
I'm truly grateful to be considered for this award and to have my journey recognized. When I came to South Korea, I quickly realized how difficult it could be for African and Black women to find beauty and hair products made for us. I created Ebony Beauté because I wanted to help fill that gap and create something useful for our community. I believe that any woman should still be able to take care of herself and feel beautiful, even when she is thousands of kilometers away from home.
Building this business while raising two young children as a solo mother in a new country has been one of the biggest challenges of my journey. But I am continuing to learn, adapt and grow.
Today, I serve customers across Korea, meet members of the community every weekend at the Songtan market, and I am also developing connections between Korean beauty brands and international markets, particularly Africa.
